a bit more about Peruvian pima cotton
Peru's pima cotton is widely regarded among experts as the finest premium cotton in the world. It is grown in the northern coastal valleys of Peru where the rich soil, in combination with full sun, high humidity, and rainfall, allow for ideal growing conditions. It grows from a small, bushy tree yielding unusually long, exceptional silky fibers measuring 1-3/8" to 1-9/16" in staple length (ordinary cotton fibers measure 1/2" to 3/4"). Those conditions and characteristics create a pima cotton that is silky soft, durable, and highly resistant to pilling. Peruvian pima cotton also contains fewer impurities than other cottons and benefits those who suffer from allergies and skin sensitivity because it contains fewer chemicals than cottons grown in most other areas of the world.
